Understanding How Your Credit Card Gets Processed

Problems with debit cards

This is VERY important! Please note that when using a debit card your bank may put what is called an "authorization hold" of the funds. This hold can be put whether the card is accepted or declined. This hold is done through your bank to make sure there are enough funds in your account to cover the purchase.

Let's use the following as an example: Mike uses his debit card to make a purchase for fangs. The charge did not go through, it was declined. But later that night Mike logs into his online banking and see that there is a charge on his card. That is not a charge. The bank has put a hold on those funds to make sure they are available. The bank normally holds them for a day or so. If we do not charge the card ( settle ) then they are released back to you. Keep in mind if you keep getting declined your bank may put a hold EACH TIME you try the order! Please know this has absolutely nothing to do with us! It is all done by your bank.

So why is you card getting declined?

There are two banks involved when processing your card. Your bank, and ours. In order to protect against credit card fruad we use a system called AVS ( Address Verification System ). This tells us whether or not the address you supplied to us matches the address the card company has on file. This works flawless when using a regular credit card, not so much with a debit card. Some banks won't release any AVS info on your debit card. This results our bank declining the charge even though your bank gives the green light. There is no way around this. If you card keeps getting declined, chances are it simply wont work.

You can try to use it through paypal but that may take a little time. Another note: Prepaid credit cards have this same issue. Some work, some don't.
