Fill Your Own Blood Vials

The kit you recieved came with three items. A clear, handblown glass vial. A silver cap with a hole drilled top and a plastic stopper. This quick tutorial will guide you through the process of filling your new vial.

Over the years we have seen customer fill their vials from everything from dirt to ashes of pets to the obvious, blood. Depending on how you want to fill your vial you may want to take the following tips into consideration before you get started.

Solid Items

The kit includes everything you need to fill you vial with a solid ( ashes, dirt, hair etc.. ) with the exception of superglue. The first thing you will need to do is trim the ring of the stopper. The stopper provided will have a ring around the edge that will not be able to go into the silver cap. You can simply trim around this ring with a pair of scissors untill the stopper will work properly.

Once the stopper is trimmed, the only other item you will need is superglue. You can use any time of superglue from a local drugstore. For demonstration purposes, lets say we are going to fill the vial with a small lock of hair.

Take the hair and fit as much of it as possible into the vial ( or as much of it as you want ). Once the hair is in the vial, force the stopper into the opening of the vial as far as it will go.

Once the stopper is snug in place, coat the whole top of the vial and any seams with superglue and let it dry ( 2 minutes ). This process will help set in the stopper so it will never come out.

Next take a small amount of superglue and place it on the top of the vial and a little around the edges of the vial and a small dab inside of the silver cap. Place the silver cap over the vial and hold steady for approx a minute. The cap should tighten on almost immediately. You should set the vial down and let the superglue cure for at least 20 minutes before either packaging or putting on a necklace.

Using Fluids

Filling your vial with fluids can be an incredible thing. But it is also important to make sure that you do it safely. Let's begin this section with a little disclaimer. We highly recommend having your doctor perform any action that draws blood! We do not want you to go at it with a steak knife to fill your vials! It's really common sense people. Here are some things you should ask your doctor before considering filling your vial with blood.

1) Is it safe? No diseases or conditions that could make the process scary ( HIV etc.. ) You don't want to wear infected blood and niether does anyone else!!

2) Ask your doctor to perform this action for you. He/She may think your a freak... but... well... you are! LOL

3) If the doctor refuses. Ask the doctor if it's ok to use a diabetic lancet to fill the vial. They may go for that as well.

After you get all that out of the way and its time to actually fill the vial and seal it. Although we do provide a stopper and cap for this product... we don't really advise the stopper provided. We like to seal the vials that contain fluid with hot glue. This seals the end of the vial completely and makes an airtight seal. After the hot glue cools off a bit you can always do an overcoay of superglue to for a tighter seal. super glue the cap on and you are in business!

Alot of people ask us about the blood drying out... It's blood.. it's gonna do that. Customers have email us telling us that you can also hold the process off a long time by adding a tiny drop of vinegar ( white ) to the vial with the blood.

The most important thing is do to this safely and talk to your doctor. We are not responsible if you do something stupid with these vials!
